Blog post image.

As part of the BNB Beacon Chain sunset, the BNB Chain Wallet (BEW) will transition to a Lite Version. The update is expected to take place next week, stay tuned for updates on X. Users will still have access to retrieve Seed Phrases and Private Keys, but other functionalities will be discontinued.

BNB Chain Wallet

What’s Changing?

To ensure users can still manage their assets, Seed Phrase and Private Key retrieval will remain available, allowing funds to be recovered in alternative wallets like Trust Wallet. The following features will be removed:

  • Sending and receiving funds
  • Checking balances and transaction history
  • Access to Ethereum, and testnets

What Do Users Need to Do?

Existing Users: No action is required. The update will happen automatically.

New Users: We do not recommend downloading BEW. Instead, we recommended using wallets like Trust Wallet for a better user experience.

BC Private Key Solution:

  • For users who own the wallet with the private key and possess assets on BNB Beacon Chain, you may still need V2 for features like token recovery or other purposes. You can download and manually install the V2 extension here.

Note: The V2 extension is no longer officially supported. Use it at your own risk.

How to Manage Your Assets

  • To restore assets, use your Seed Phrase or Private Key to recover funds in another wallet.
  • To migrate assets from BNB Beacon Chain to BNB Smart Chain, use the Token Recovery Tool.

Your Funds Are Safe

Even though BNB Chain Wallet’s functionality is changing, user assets are safe. Funds can be retrieved and restored at any time using a Seed Phrase or Private Key.
